I have been a member of FT Park Slope since May 2008. I joined FT
because I needed to get bigger and stronger for my junior hockey team.
When I began working out with Brian I could not do much, but he has
progressed me safely and I look forward to every workout because he is
always teaching me new things. Soon after we started, I noticed a major
difference on and off the ice.
I have gained 12 pounds of muscle in the last 6 months and my speed and
game continue to improve. FT offers me the intense personal attention I
need to develop my skills and perform at higher levels on the ice. I am
looking to play college hockey and FT is working its hardest to help me
achieve that goal and excel passed it.

I can’t say enough about this gym. After 6 months of consistent
training with them, I am the strongest I have ever been in my life and
I can now fit back into the pair of jeans from college that I (for some
reason) have saved in the back of my closet for so many years!! It’s
such an amazing feeling when the pants or jeans just slide right on and
fits perfectly on my new waist and slimmed down hips. Not only am I
seeing great results fast but I am also having a wonderful time at each
training session. The trainers are personable and funny in addition to
being extremely knowledgeable and well rounded in terms of different
types of exercises. They keep it fresh and lively for me by mixing in
kickboxing and Pilates along with my regular strength training. I look
forward to coming into the gym every day that I have an appointment.

Without a doubt I feel better on so many levels as a result of the
months I have been training here. It’s not just about weight loss and
losing inches – though that has been great. It is about having more
energy in my everyday life and just feeling more focused. I feel
stronger and less afraid to challenge myself physically. At work, I
have more patience and am more productive. In addition, the nutritional
guidance helped me make small changes in my eating patterns that have
produced great results – and I never feel deprived of good food or left
feeling hungry.
Though Lisa is my primary trainer and my biggest cheerleader, I have
had the opportunity to work with Brian and Carmelle as well. Lisa
consistently challenges me and has given me work out tools that I can
easily use on my own on days that I don’t have training. Brian is tough
but full of encouragement and Carmelle pushes me with weights and
kickboxing techniques that help release excess aggression from a
stressful day or week.
A final benefit of training at Fitness Together is the access to cardio
equipment any day of the week. They make it fun by having a “cardio
club” where you compete to get points you can apply to prizes. It is a
low stress way of fitting cardio into your everyday life. On the days I
don’t have training and can’t make it to the gym, I can come by and use
the treadmill or bike as long as I want. And every time I come, I am
greeted with a smile and encouragement.

Dear Brian, Chris & Lisa,
I cannot thank you enough for opening Fitness Together in Park Slope. I
was walking past your place when the sign first went up and I was
curious what it was. Shortly after you opened in January I walked in
and met Brian. He explained the concept of your gym; A place where you
could work out with a trainer, one on one, in a private state of the
art facility. I have been a member of New York Sports Club, World Gym,
Equinox, the Y and several others and have used personal trainers in
all of them. I thought I was pretty familiar with what trainers could
offer. I was wrong. What you provide is very different. No cookie
cutter work outs or pre programmed routines. You work with me and me
only in a routine prepared for me alone. Every time I come in the work
outs are different and challenging. Plus being in the privacy of my own
room means I don't have to worry about no looking good, not lifting
enough weight for a man my size or not looking coordinated. No one is
there to see me. It is just me, one of the trainers and the mirror. I
can handle that. I came in to get in shape, gain flexibility and lose
weight. I have accomplished all three. I wish I could lose weight
faster but that won't happen until you folks walk around and eat with
me.
Of course you must have realized that I liked the program when I bought
30 sessions for my wife. While her friends told her it was a great gift
I was treated to "what, you think I'm fat?" She was reluctant to even
go. I convinced her to try it. I told her to work out with Brian. She
went; she liked it, and has been going ever since. She does prefer
working out with Lisa but that's fine it leaves Brian available for me.
You recently added new trainers and I have to tell you that they are
both excellent. It's really great because now I can book a session with
any one of four people, each with a slightly different style. No matter
whom I get for a session I am always happy afterwards. That's saying
something as I often take the 6 A.M. time slot.
Anyway, I just want to thank you for opening in my neighborhood. You
have truly made a difference in the life of my wife and me.

As an active woman in my early seventies, I'm in pretty good shape but
I wanted to gain upper body strength, improve my posture and balance,
both of which are issues for older people. Joining a gym wasn't for me
so when I learned about Fitness Together, I immediately checked it out.
I was impressed with the friendliness of Brian, the head trainer and
manager, who showed me around the facility, answered my questions and
didn't pressure me to join on the spot. I decided to give it a try and
joined the next day.
FT did not disappoint! After only five months of training, I not only
feel stronger, I am stronger. I started training with Lisa and now
train with Elvira, both of whom have helped me gain increased strength
and fitness. This is not a cookie cutter operation; no short cuts are
taken at FT. Each training program is tailored to meet the specific
needs and goals of the client. There are a variety of challenging
exercises that force you to be focused - you can never become bored.
I'm also learning more about how a specific exercise works which seems
to help me with my training. I feel energized and have a sense of
accomplishment after each session.
What also makes Fitness Together work for me and, I'm sure for all
clients, Lisa, Chris and Brian Flynn and all the trainers because they
really care about you and make you feel "at home." It's a fun place to
be - you also laugh a lot. I absolutely love it!

"I feel healthier and more energized
now than ever before..."
I was the type of person who joins a gym, goes full force for a week or
two, and then loses steam, putters out and never goes again. In fact,
over the past 10 years I've probably had 4 or 5 yearly gym memberships,
spent hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars but only actually worked
out a handful of times. Very sad, but very true!! After the birth of my
son, however, I knew I had to get SERIOUS. I am a perfect candidate for
the Fitness Together program on many levels.
Ultimately, my problem was laziness and boredom and I always found an
excuse to put off or avoid going to the gym. Since I signed up for a
package at Fitness Together, I've done a complete 360 in terms of my
attitude towards working out. With FT there is the all important
accountability, not only to myself but to my trainer. There are set
goals and my progress is closely monitored. The workouts are scheduled
and structured but vary from session to session, so there's always
something new and interesting to do. There's really no room (or reason)
for excuses!
So now I work out 4 times a week and I look forward to every workout.
I've been extremely happy with my progress so far, both in my body and
my stamina. I feel healthier and more energized now than ever before.
FT Park slope is a well designed facility, immaculate with nice
attention to detail. The Flynn's are an extremely warm bunch and I
sensed right from the beginning that there is a genuine concern for
each of their clients. It's kind of a "mom and pop" shop of personal
training which is a nice change from the sterile and cold environment
of a big gym.

I've become so spoiled by this place. How am I ever going to be able to
join a regular gym again? Working out one-on-one w/ a personal trainer
in a private room can't be beat. And the Flynn's are great people.
You'd be silly not to join.
Big thanks to FT for kicking my ass these past few months. I can
actually see muscles now. I thought I had a tumor in my arm, but no,
it's a bicep. My only gripe is that I wish I could take Carmelle to
Seattle with me!

best shape I have ever
been in my life..."
I decided to begin personal training as I am simply not keen enough on
exercise to do it on my own. I also still had post pregnancy fat when
my "baby" was about to turn 3 and no longer had any excuses. When I
first met Brian to begin fitness training he did an initial assessment
where he asked me to do push-ups. I laughed as it was completely beyond
my abilities to do any...
Now less than a year later I am in the best shape I have ever been in
my life and my husband is delighted! I feel great and am confidently
excited about the coming summer. I also really enjoy my sessions at the
gym - I know that Brian is helping me overcome weak areas and my
posture and general well being has improved too. I also find that
having made the commitment to be there and get fit, I now look forward
to the gym and in spite of having thought that I didn't have time to
get to the gym regularly I can do 3 sessions a week and still get my
chores done and look after my 2 children. The personal training
difference is that someone is expecting me there, so I go when it suits
me and it all works.
I can't recommend Fitness Together enough - it's changed how I feel and
look. Truly Brilliant!
